  • Description: Do winter and spring water quality parameters meet the State of Connecticut's water quality criteria? Bacterial and chemical concentrations were compared during wet and dry conditions. Winter and spring parameter concentrations were compared with historical summer data to determine whether concentrations exceeding Connecticut state water quality standards were limited to summer months or if they extended to the winter and spring. Winter and spring water quality parameter levels generally met Connecticut water quality standards as well as the State of Vermont guidelines, which were used for comparison where no Connecticut criteria exist. Most parameter concentrations reflected the results of summer months historically, all generally meeting their designated water quality standards. One exception was fecal coliforms, which were more consistently elevated above 400 colonies/100 ml in the summers of 1992 through 1994.
