  • Description: In North America, numerous pest and vector mosquito species warrant sustainable control by environmentally compatible agents. Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis and Lysinibacillus sphaericus play key roles in mosquito control operations. Various commercial formulations customized for different species and habitats have made significant contributions to nuisance level reduction and mitigation of disease transmission by mosquitoes. At the same time, the extraordinary safety profile to the environment and nontarget organisms of these two bacterial control agents has been well documented.
